CABSAT 2018 – chasing superlatives

12-01-2017 01:33 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: Guntermann & Drunck GmbH

From January 14-16, 2018, Guntermann & Drunck's KVM equipment will once again travel to Dubai for CABSAT 2018, where G&D will be presenting high-performance KVM solutions for optimized IT deployment by broadcast professionals. At the G&D booth, everything will revolve around pixel-perfect video quality and the extension and switching of 4K resolutions using matrix systems. The German manufacturers will be showing many small and large features that make the work of broadcasters easier and help them to seamlessly link KVM technology with broadcast-typical equipment, such as the broadcast feature for tally lights.

DP1.2-Vision – extending signals without any latency via optical fibres or CAT cables
The DP1.2-Vision extender system extends video signals with resolutions up to 4K at 60Hz – either via optical fibres or CAT cables. Working according to the sender-receiver principle, the system consists of a computer module and a user module. The KVM extender system provides pixel-perfect images and uses the in-house HDIP compression technology in the latest development stage, Level 3, which allows the loss-less transmission of video signals with a resolution of 4K at 60Hz. Thanks to this technology, the systems require less bandwidth to transmit signals – but still provide crystal-clear images and latency-free operation. A decisive advantage: the DP1.2-Vision is fully compatible with G&D's digital matrix systems. This means: If you combine DP1.2-Vision with a KVM matrix, the computer signals can not only be extended over long distances, but also switched and distributed, which is ideal for broadcast installations consisting of several computers and several producer desks. Following G&D’s principle of mix & match, the DP1.2-Vision is fully compatible with already installed G&D devices. This makes it quick and easy to combine or retrofit existing infrastructures with new equipment and provides a safe investment with regards to future expansions.

Searching for the ultimate superlative – DP1.2-VisionXG
When searching for superlatives, you clearly have to take a look at the new KVM extender system DP1.2-VisionXG. DP1.2-VisionXG is a powerful KVM extender to extend high-resolution 4K and 8K video signals at 60 Hz – uncompressed, latency-free, pixel-perfect and fail-safe. This next generation solution made in Germany is the world's first and only extender for 8K resolutions (4 x 4K) that transmits even Super-Hi-Vision at a full refresh rate of 60 Hz over distances up to 10 km via optical fibres.

Broadcast feature for tally lights facilitates the work of producers
Another highlight at the German manufacturers’s booth: the new GPIO function for tally lights. In studios or OB vans G&D matrix systems allow multiple users to simultaneously access the same or completely different computers. But what if this computer is "live" on the air and a producer makes unwanted changes to this particular system? The GPIO function helps you transmit relevant tally light information to remote producer desks and highlights the active “on-air” system by using a connected “ON AIR” light. This way, you can avoid making any unwanted changes to a live computer. The new GPIO-Changer is a device that helps you install and handle the GPIO function. This means that tally switching status can be transmitted from the computer via the KVM matrix and the information can be made available to the user on the console. Now producers are always informed whenever a computer is live on the air.

G&D have been working closely with the broadcast industry for more than 30 years now. The German manufacturers believe that this is the ideal way to create practical, user-oriented solutions. Hundreds of leading German and international broadcast production houses and TV stations rely on G&D's KVM products. Interested visitors can experience these and many other KVM solutions at the G&D booth TBC3 from January 14-16, 2018 and get comprehensive consulting on their individual projects.

Guntermann & Drunck is regarded as one of the leading manufacturers of digital and analogue KVM products for control rooms in air traffic control centers, broadcast studios, industrial process control, marine and other sectors such as telecommunications and finances. With a broad portfolio of powerful products to extend, switch and distribute keyboard, video and mouse signals and many years of experience when it comes to installing KVM systems, G&D offers its users the broadest KVM portfolio available at the market. Of course, all devices are compatible and can be combined.

G&D’s KVM products optimise the application of IT equipment and improve the working conditions for humans and computers. KVM devices are reliable and powerful hidden champions running in the background always ready to be operated. By short lines of communication, and the entire core competencies such as development, sales, marketing and production under one roof, G&D supports its customers from initial technical advice through to on-site and after-sales support – all from one single source.
