Joël Fisler holding the IMS Learning Impact Award Certificate for OLAT

At the Learning Impact conference in Barcelona IMS awarded the best e-learning products with their prestigious “IMS Impact Awards”. The Swiss open source learning platform OLAT (Online Learning And Training), which is being developed by the University of Zurich and partners from the open source community since 10 years, won the "Leadership Award 2009" in the category “Best Open Source Learning Platform”. We very much appreciate receiving this reputable award and thank IMS for recognizing the achievement that the team and the open source community have accomplished during the last 10 years. After winning the Medida Prix in 2000, this IMS Award is certainly the most important award for OLAT.

More information:

About OLAT:
OLAT is a Java based open source learning platform used all over the world. The development began in 1999 at the University of Zurich which is still the leading house of OLAT. OLAT has been translated into over 30 languages by the community: from German, English, French and Spanish to Persian/Farsi, Arabic and Chinese. The latest release 6.1 is fully scalable and allows creating an OLAT cluster with multiple servers that can meet even the highest demands. OLAT celebrates its 10th birthday in September 2009 with an "OLAT User Day" at the University of Zurich.

About IMS Global:
IMS Global Learning Consortium is the world's largest organization which develops and publishes e-learning standards. Each year they nominate and award important e-learning projects and products with their Impact Awards: "The Learning Impact Awards are unique in that they recognize the use of technology in context. In addition, the entries are evaluated according to eight criteria of impact, including improving access to learning, improving affordability of learning, and improving the quality of learning." (IMS press release). IMS is responsible for the development of such well-known standards as QTI for quizzes and tests, Content Package and Common Cartridge for exchanging e-learning modules as well as standards for metadata, ePortfolio, etc.
