Abstract:
In 2015, the value of apparel accessory production in the U.S. amounted to $806M ,growing by +1.2% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. apparel accessory output pursued a significant decline from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -3.8%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +4% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of apparel accessory shipments in the United States attained its maximum level of $1.1B in 2008. Afterwards, the growth in terms of the apparel accessory production failed to regain its strength through to 2015.
Apparel accessories, all other types (non-leather belts, hose supporters, handkerchiefs, apparel findings, etc.), made from purchased materials accounted for the highest share (27% in 2015) of U.S. apparel accessory manufacturing, leaving a considerable room for hats and caps (fabric, straw, and felt), men's and boys' (15%). The other related products with less notable individual shares together comprised approx. 57% of the total output.
