Celebrities Step Out to Help Los Angeles Foster Care Children

(PASADENA, CA) - Stepping out of their shoes to help Los Angeles foster care children, celebrities participated in the first-ever Hillsides “Foster Soles” online auction of celebrity autographed shoes.
With over 500,000 children in foster care nationwide and 32,000 children receiving child welfare services in Los Angeles County, celebrities including one generous Pasadena restaurant took a stand to help foster care children served by Hillsides, a foster care children’s charity. Bar Celona, a modern Spanish tapas bar, restaurant and lounge, hosted the launch of Hillsides “Foster Soles.”.
With the aim of also spreading awareness of foster care issues, the online auction drew attention of many celebrities and their autographed shoes. Bar Celona offered a VIP lounge which included complimentary Bar Celona signature sangria and Spanish champagne (cava). Guests savored the chef’s selection of Spanish tapas, which were tomato gazpacho with grapes, coriander shrimp ceviche with pickled serrano chile and charred leek oil avocado on fried rice chip, pork and salmon conservas on crostini, chicken empanadas with cilantro puree, goat cheese and chard empanadas, albondigas with basil puree, pork croquetas with garlic aioli, and grilled chicken skewers.
Guests also bid on celebrity autographed shoes, which were displayed at the venue. To add to the festivities, guests wore their funniest or wildest shoes for an additional evening contest judged by John Mahon of Elton John’s Band, Cheryl Farrell of Jeopardy! Clues Crew, and world-renowned metal sculpturist Bruce Gray.
