Singapore, 27 May 2009 - More than 500 photography enthusiasts answered the call for entries to Club Med’s Bali Discovery Challenge photography contest which ended last week. The finalists selected hail from Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore. They were chosen for their imaginative interpretation of Happiness to compete in the next round, which will take place this weekend from the 27 May to 1 June at the holiday pioneer’s beautifully renovated Bali resort in exotic Indonesia.
Jointly conceived by digital marketing communications agency Profero, this contest was designed to attract the creative community of amateur, freelance, semi-pro and professional photographers, some of whom have won awards, or were placed in top positions, at prestigious international contests. The challenge thrown down to participants required them to share their interpretation of Club Med’s promise - “Where happiness means the world” – in photographic stills.
“We’re quite pleased with the overall quality of the entries, and the diverse range of skills and talent evident in the images submitted,” says Olivier Horps, Club Med’s Vice-President of Marketing, Asia Pacific. “As we have only limited places for the finalists, we hope these photographers selected from different parts of Asia would appeal to our multicultural clientele and fans, and rouse their excitement and support in the next phase of the contest, where all will be invited to vote for their favourite.”
John Ng, Managing Director of Profero has this to say “Club Med really understands the power of digital and how it can be used more effectively. By involving the creative community and engaging prospective consumers, they are able to show and tell what the all-inclusive Club Med experience means with more impact.”
Set on the south-east coast of the island in Nusa Dua, Club Med Bali resort, with its harmonious blend of modern design and traditional Balinese architecture, is in close proximity to picturesque Ubud, Seminyak and Kuta, clear blue waters and white sandy beaches, providing diverse settings for the finalists to capture the essence of the popular, and newly trendy, holiday destination.
To lend a touch of stylish glamour to the event, 2008 FORMULA 1™ SingTel Singapore Grand Prix Ambassador and celebrity host Jaymee Ong has been invited to play host and muse to the finalists. First discovered at the age of 15, Australian-born Jaymee is an actress, veteran host and familiar face to television audiences in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, known for her effortless grace and charm, as well as her capability to helm diverse shows from entertaining eBuzz to the intense sports reality programme The Contender Asia. She even has a cameo in the Hollywood blockbuster Pearl Harbour, guest appearances in the well received US TV series Las Vegas and Entourage, under her belt.
Her diverse experience and wide appeal in Asia makes her a most suitable choice. Jaymee will be providing updates and behind-the scene snippets from the contest hotspot, while the ten finalists seek inspiration and creativity that will culminate in one of them walking away with a paid assignment contract and a dream stay at a Club Med resort in Asia Pacific.
