Marywood Nursing Care Center Named a Best Nursing Home for 2017-18

Livonia, MI – Marywood Nursing Care Center, a Catholic health care organization sponsored by the Felician Sisters of North America, has been recognized as one of "America’s Best Nursing Homes" by U.S. News & World Report for the fifth consecutive year. The Best Nursing Home designation is given only to homes that demonstrate appropriate use of key services and consistent performance in national quality measures.

U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 homes nationwide. The nearly 2,300 nursing homes that earned the designation of a U.S. News & World Report Best Nursing Home for 2017-18 represent about 15 percent of all homes.
"Selecting the right nursing home that offers exceptional care for a loved one can be particularly challenging," said John Mimnaugh, executive director. "Our organization and staff are proud to receive this designation and hope that this ranking provides families with the information and confidence they need to help them choose a home capable of providing the quality care they deserve."

U.S. News uses a rigorous system for their evaluation process, making this ranking even more impressive for Marywood. Since 2009, the publication’s nursing home ratings have relied on data from Nursing Home Compare (https://www.medicare.gov/nursinghomecompare), a program run by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the federal agency that sets and enforces standards for nursing homes. CMS assigns an overall rating of one to five stars to nursing homes according to their performance in three areas– state-conducted health inspections, nurse staffing and medical quality measures.
