Next-Generation Animation Artists Creating European Network

Halle (Germany), 20 April 2006. The Halle (Germany) based European Animation Masterclass (EAM) inititated a European network of animation film artists and animation schools. Last week, the EAM invited 25 of the next-generation animation film producer from 11 European countries together with internationally acclaimed trainers from Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany and the USA.

Last week´s master course titled „EAM OnTour“ was held in Prague. The master course was run by the EAM in coperation with one of the most prestigious animation schools in Europe, the „Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design“ in Prague as well as the „National Cinema School“, which is located in Turin/Italy. The next-generation animation film artists came from countries such as Belgium, Hungaria, Spain, Italy, France, The United Kingdom, Greece, Poland. Latvia, Austria, and Germany. Head of the master course was Dan Boulos. The Missouri-born Boulos can contribute with 13 years of industry-experience in the US-animation sector. Boulos used to work in the world-famous Disney and Warner Brothers animation studios. Boulos style can best be detected in animation films such as „The prince of Egypt”, “The road to Eldorado”, Spacejam”, and “Beauty and the Beast”.

European Animation Masterclass at the “Mitteldeutschen Multimediazentrum MMZ“ in Halle (Gemany)

Seat of the European Animation Masterclass is the “Mitteldeutsche Multimediazentrum MMZ” (Multimedia Center of Central Germany). In the MMZ, 12 international animation students enjoy the higher education course with the best trainers in the world. The MMZ actively supports the higher education and the networking of European animation artists. This was also the reason why MMZ-director Ms Katerina Hagen conducted talks with the European partner schools in Prague. Says Ms Hagen: „ We are quite pleased and proud on the quality and the achievements of the animtation education, which so far we have accomplished at the MMZ. The sixth times already, we have very ambitious students from 8 countries as well as some of the world-leading trainers here at the MMZ in Halle. These factors greatly contribute to our position as one of the most important spot for the animation film industry in Europe.” The EAM is run by the International Academy of Media and Arts, which is located at the MMZ. Joint partners are the MEDIA program of the European Union, the Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung, as well as the two companies Bavaria and MotionWorks.
