Wisol and Ubiscale empower IoT trackers for mass-market
Cesson-Sévigné, France – November, 10th 2017Wisol, a leading manufacturer of wireless connectivity modules and RF solutions, today announced a close collaboration with Ubiscale, a provider of innovative geolocation technologies for IoT.
The combination of Sigfox-enabled modules from Wisol and Ubi.cloud solution from Ubiscale enables new generation of asset trackers with unprecedented outdoor/indoor location capabilities and longest life-time.
JinDuk, Kim, Sr. VP at Wisol, said “As a global Sigfox module manufacturer of compact and cost-efficient Sigfox modules, we are very pleased to announce our new partnership with Ubiscale and we expect that it will make new IoT market creation. We actively seek to synergize our Sigfox-Only and Quad-Mode modules with Ubiscale’s geolocation technology to provide cost-efficient IoT tracking solutions worldwide.”
”We are glad to work with Wisol who delivers the most integrated and efficient Sigfox modules. Developing IoT trackers faces design constraints as GPS and WIFI sensors are known to be power-draining. To tackle those challenges, our cloud-powered approach for geolocation is a perfect fit to take most of the benefits of Wisol products. We believe the combination to be a true enabler for mass-market IoT sectors such as asset tracking, process optimization or people/animal tracking.” added Samuel Ryckewaert, General Manager at Ubiscale.
GPS and analysis of surrounding WiFi access-points provides complementary means to locate assets moving outdoor and indoor. For applications where a tracking device does not need to know its own position, Ubiscale’ solution, called Ubi.cloud, allows shifting most of the power-hungry processing to the cloud. By boosting by 10 the efficiency of both GPS and WiFi sensing, Ubi.cloud on Wisol modules fosters accurate and compact trackers with true multi-year life-time.
The Ubiscale’s technologies consists in an embedded software core that preprocess signals and a simple API to Ubi.cloud platform that delivers the effective device coordinates. Smart algorithms increase the reliability of the positioning and minimize the throughput for Sigfox connectivity as well. Ubiscale delivers now a ready-to-use software development kit (SDK) that enables straight-forward developments with WSSFM20 series, the latest Sigfox-enabled modules from Wisol offering quad-mode capabilities.
Based on ARM Cortex M4, WSSFM20 includes WiFi, GPS and BLE chipsets as well as NFC and 3-axes accelerometer sensor. Coming with pin-compatible variants for all frequency zones (RCZ1/2/3/4), it smooths the path to operate worldwide on Sigfox network. Also, its compactness and ease-of-use make it very suitable for numerous tracking use-cases when size and cost matter.
Both Wisol’s and Ubiscale’s SDK are available allowing designers to complete turn-key solutions within shortest possible time.
