NM Cabling Completed Significant Contract for Royal Mail Bristol iSLMsNM Cabling has completed the relocation work within Bristol Mail Centre for the Installation of an Intelligent Letter Sorting Machine and associated communication room cabinets and data cabling. Intelligent Letter Sorting Machines or iSLMs are high-speed machines in the Royal Mail that sort letters and can read handwriting.
The Intelligent letter sorting machine can process around 36,000 items an hour and those that cannot be read send an image to a central processing centre for manual processing which is then fed feeds back to the machine.
Fibre Optic Cabling
Fibre optic cabling was installed to facilitate the high speed machine processing time. The overall structured cabling for the system also involves fibre optic cabling installation within the communication room and to a high level Wi-Fi access points. Shielded FTP copper cabling was also utilised for patching.
The works for these projects are always at high level within a security restricted warehouse environment requiring boom lift and scissor lift access with expert work from IPAF qualified engineers.
Royal Mail have worked with NM Cabling for their cabling needs for 16 years on these projects and is part of the approved contractors directory for cabling installations.
