Appia Communications

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. – May 15, 2009 – Appia Communications has launched free online demonstrations of its Appia Video Communicator (AVC) collaboration technology.

Designed to make high-quality video communication easy and affordable for small and midsize companies and organizations, AVC combines the flexibility and low cost of desktop offerings with the high-resolution capabilities of expensive conference room systems.

“There is an enormous gap between the low-end services and a multi-thousand dollar telepresence installation. AVC fills that gap,” said Victor von Schlegell, Appia’s president. “When people try AVC for the first time, they’re always impressed with the quality of the audio and video.”

AVC technology:

• Supports both conference rooms and remote users.
• Allows both conferencing and broadcast communication. Use AVC for video conferencing, and also for live training sessions, Webinars, announcements, and other situations in which only the host needs to be seen and heard.
• Is fully encrypted from end to end.
• Includes chat and desktop sharing.
• Includes audio dial-in/dial-out for participants who cannot attend via video.
• Supports multiple resolutions. AVC can hold a session at more than one display resolution — including a 1280x720, 30 frames-per-second "telepresence" experience — so participants can attend even if they do not have an abundance of bandwidth available.
• Does not require proprietary hardware. Users are free to choose their own equipment, which makes it easier and cheaper to deploy and use.
