Press release from: Global Impact Grid

Mikasa Co., Ltd. (MED Mikasa Manufacturing Engineering Design), a certified electrical specialist group, maintains a full command of diverse standards covering 130 countries and regions. Mikasa, with unparalleled skills and technologies from Japan, will be signing the MOU with the Dubai Police General Headquarters to enter into a joint development partnership to construct infrastructure systems and devices during GITEX, the Middle East’s largest technology event taking place from October 8-12. Dubai has become an important metropolis and an aviation hub not just for the Middle East, but for the world. As Dubai has been attracting people from across the globe, its police force has the duty to protect its people and country in an era of increased security concerns.
To live up to its duty to protect, the Dubai Police General Headquarters decided to seal a partnership agreement with Mikasa, a UL508A certified company with an expert understanding of the Middle East’s electrical standards. Based on its reputation for control panels, IoT and international safety standards, the two parties, after signing the MOU, have already discussed and planned numerous projects to be developed by 2020.
These include:
1. Next generation police motorcycles equipped with cameras to help detect criminal activities and traffic violations
2. Cameras attached to license plates and/or helmets to measure the distance between cars
3. High-performance driving recorder
4. Map application visualizing criminal activity and crime rates
5. Filtering system for prank calls
6. High-performance robot police officers
A concept model of the groundbreaking next generation electric police motorcycle zecOO is to be exhibited at the Dubai Police booth during GITEX. ZecOO has been developed within a collaborative partnership, building on the expertise of ZUNG DESIGN, Autostaff SUEHIRO, and ERIC WU ENGINEERING (hereafter referred to as zecOO team). For its application in the region, zecOO has been smartly customized using the Dubai Police color theme, an array of 8 cameras, (3 on each side, one in the front and back), and a touch screen with their integrated smart app installed.. As an electric vehicle, it is also environmentally friendly and in line with the goals to make Dubai a global emissions-free pioneer metropolis. Cameras on zecOO will detect a wide range of traffic violations such as speeding, running a red light or stop sign, distracted or reckless driving, and illegal parking. Information collected on offending vehicles is transmitted to the Dubai Police information processing system and soon afterwards, drivers will be notified of their penalties on their smartphone. zecOO tracks and regulates traffic violations without the officer needing to get off the motorcycle or filling out time consuming paperwork. Less people will commit traffic violations as it will be possible to navigate narrow streets and monitor areas beyond the reach of traditional surveillance cameras. Once officially adopted, the zecOOteam will work on furthering the hardware and mechanical technology while SWANY Co., Ltd. develops and refines innovative software technologies for communications, recording, and metrics. Signing the MOU not only brings benefits to the Dubai Police by being able to adopt high performance technology to secure their country, but allows Mikasa to present gamechanging technologies and approaches in a sector that is advancing rapidly. Safety becomes innovative and futuristic. A future built on innovation.
