New Versions of FiFi, Fido and Split & Folio Now Available from MEI

Apr 21, 2009 – Managing Editor Inc. (MEI), an Adobe premier development partner and a leading provider of software solutions for the publishing industry, today announced the releases of FiFi XT version 8.0 for QuarkXPress® 8 and Fido Plug-in version 6.0 for Adobe® InDesign® CS4. MEI also announced the availability of Split & Folio XT for QuarkXPress 8 and Split & Folio Plug-in for InDesign CS4. These upgrades for the company’s powerful add-on tools offer compatibility with the latest page design software from Quark and Adobe.

Available fresh on the heels of the recent releases of MEI’s Page Director® Ad Layout System (ALS) 5.4, ALS for Magazines 5.4, AdForce® 5.4, Classified Layout System (CLS) 3.8 and ClassForce® 3.8, FiFi and Fido are designed to enhance the functionality of MEI’s industry-leading ad layout and issue-planning software and increase the productivity of paginators when dealing with missing ads. The add-ons quickly restore file path information for graphic and ad files after the ad map has been opened in QuarkXPress or InDesign, eliminating the need to manually link any remaining empty ad boxes to their appropriate digital files.

Split & Folio takes a QuarkXPress or InDesign dummy and divides it into smaller units to deal out to multiple users. The new files retain the properties of the original, including attributes inherited from the ad layout software such as sections, page numbers, page folio characteristics and file links. Users can then easily distribute pagination assignments without losing any vital layout information.
