Abstract
Global coffee (green) market revenue amounted to 22,499 million USD in 2015, coming up by +7.0% against the previous year level. Overall, global coffee (green) market continues to undergo a noticeable growth: the market value increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern, however, fluctuated wildly throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013, when the market revenue increased by +329% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the global coffee (green) market attained its maximum revenue of 29,480 million USD in 2011. From 2012 to the end of the period under review, the total coffee (green) market revenue failed to regain its former peak level.

Over the analyzed period, an increase in global coffee (green) production was primarily driven by population growth. Furthermore, these key drivers are expected to continue promoting the coffee (green) output in the immediate term. This general positive trend was largely conditioned by a slight curtailment of the harvested area and solid gains of the yield figures.

The countries with the highest levels of production in 2015 were Viet Nam (2,954 thousand tonnes), Brazil (2,702 thousand tonnes), Colombia (881 thousand tonnes), together accounting for 74% of total output. The world coffee (green) harvested area amounted to 10,596 thousand ha in 2015, which was 1.1% more than the previous year figure. The harvested area indicated a small contraction over the period under review, declining by an average annual rate of -0.2% from 2007 to 2015. This trend pattern was relatively stable throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the total coffee (green) harvested area peaked in 2007, declining in the following year. From 2008 to 2015, the total coffee (green) harvested area fluctuated at lower levels.

The global average coffee (green) yield amounted to 8 thousand hg/ha in 2015, falling by -0.9% from the previous year figure. The yield figures recorded an upward trend over the period under review, with a compound annual growth rate standing at +1.2% from 2007 to 2015. These yield figures maintained, all in all, a stable trend pattern throughout the analyzed period. The highest coffee (green) yields were recorded in 2012, when it peaked at 9 thousand hg/ha. Afterwards, it decreased slightly and then fluctuated around these levels throughout the analyzed period.
