Syscom receives Security Accreditation Scheme certification as the first SIM card manufacturing center in India

New Delhi / Paderborn, April 8, 2009 – Syscom Corporation Limited, a subsidiary of Sagem Orga (SAFRAN Group), announces the SAS certification of its SIM card manufacturing center in Noida, India. Syscom is the only facility in India and one of the very few in Asia to have this distinguished certification.

In 2008, Syscom inaugurated Asia’s largest smart card manufacturing facility. This state-of-the-art production center has been audited by the GSM Association and awarded the prestigious Security Accreditation Scheme (SAS) certification after less than one year of operation. This certification confirms that Syscom’s processes and products are compliant with the highest standards for security, including information, IT, logistics and production management, personnel and physical security.

The Syscom plant has a manufacturing capacity of 200 million cards per year, to be doubled over the next two years to meet growing market needs. The Indian market just added 9.18 million GSM subscribers in February to take the total to 277.12 million, according to figures published by the industry body Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI). Syscom enjoys a market share of 40% to 45% in India. Apart from meeting the needs of Indian customers, the facility will also serve global customers of the Sagem Orga Group covering Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa.
