1st April 2009- BUDAPEST, Hungary – The prestigious award, Innovation Grand Prize recognized by The Hungarian Association for Innovation was presented by The President of the Republic of Hungary Mr. László Sólyom at the dignified ceremony held in Hungarian Parliament’s Upper House Hall on last Friday.

IND Group’s software product, IND iMobile Banking presented at last year’s CEBIT with a great success, received the glittering Technology Innovation Award at 17th Innovation Grand Prize contest.

The Hungarian Innovation Grand Prize was established by Hungarian Association for Innovation in 1991 and it reflects their mission and principal aim which is ‘to turn innovation into the most important driving force for economic growth, and to ensure that the potential of innovation to improve competitiveness and inject vigor into the economy’.

Mr. Péter Závodszky Dr., the Chairman of the Jury, reported on the selection process and recognized the work of the prize winners as highly important innovation in their business areas. The basis of an innovation could have been an R&D result, patent, adaptation of a know-how or technology transfer as well. The evaluation aspects of the contest were the achieved extra economic result or yearly income in 2008 and other technological, economical advantages besides originality, novelty and social utility.

There were twenty one applicants for the prize, all presenting significant domestic innovations – Robert Bosch, EGIS Pharma, Electrolux- to name a few.

“It is a great success and honor to receive such recognition” – said Mr. József Nyiri, owner and CTO of IND Group. “IND’s innovative solutions enable banks and their clients to mitigate the impact of global economic crisis. I believe that the current critical period is not clearly negative, if the market players were searching for innovative solutions and new opportunities. “

The path to the award began many months before. IND had realized earlier the opportunity of the freedom of mobile internet and started to develop a new, attractive and easy-to-use banking application on mobile phones last year. The uniqueness of the convenient browser based software, IND iMobile Banking, over the traditional WAP banking services is the highly ergonomic and aesthetic features which assist comfortable and easy-to-use banking on the mobile handset. Similar to the internet bank, basic banking transactions can be quickly carried out even through GPRS/EDGE mobile internet connection.
CIB Bank, a member bank of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, was the first who decided to implement the state-of-the-art IND iMobile Banking product in 2008. After the extended mobile banking service called mobilCIB went live in the bank, the registered customers for mobile banking increased by 10% in the first month. The number of logins doubled to 6300 per month with 2,5 times more active users.
