Glial Cell Line Derived Neurotrophic Factor-Pipeline Review H2 2017
Glial Cell Line Derived Neurotrophic Factor (Astrocyte Derived Trophic Factor or GDNF)-Glial-derived neurotrophic factor is a member of the cysteine-knot superfamily of growth factors. It promotes the survival and differentiation of dopaminergic neurons and was able to prevent apoptosis of motor neurons. The mature form of the protein is a ligand for the product of the RET (rearranged during transfection) protooncogene. The molecules developed by companies in Phase II and Preclinical stages are 2 and 4 respectively. Similarly, the universities portfolio in Phase II and Discovery stages comprises 1 and 1 molecules, respectively.
