Offering a new Divorce Support Group, Barry K. Selman, LCSW, is assisting Chapel Hill, Raleigh, Cary, and Durham, North Carolina residents in their struggle to regain life as people who are going through or have been through a divorce or separation.

CHAPEL HILL, NC - Tough economic times tend to create tension in the household, causing strain in the family. The financial crisis around the country is causing the divorce and separation rate to increase, forcing more people to rebuild their lives as a formerly married, but now single person.

Psychotherapist Barry K. Selman, LCSW is helping people rebuild their lives in a healthy, positive environment by offering a professionally led support group for those in the midst of ending a primary relationship. People who are experiencing similar separation or divorce issues can discuss practical topics such as finances, child support and custody, being single, and entering new relationships.

Additionally we will deal with complex emotional difficulties such as anger, fear and grief. The support of other group members as well as the group leader allows each participant to learn to cope with separation and divorce in a positive manner. Participants will learn new life enhancing skills while moving on with their lives as a formerly married person. With the guidance of Triangle area psychotherapist Barry K. Selman, group members will focus on the causes of each problem and develop practical solutions for achieving lasting results.

"Rather than life 'being over' after a divorce or separation, life can be much richer and emotionally rewarding," states Selman. His Chapel Hill Divorce Support Group provides an opportunity for people in similar situations to gain tips, ideas, and inspiration from each other.

Participants interact with Selman, as well as other members of the group, in order to build a positive, active environment that lends aid to the entire group. Selman's sessions strive to encourage, console, validate, and assist those within the group.

Among other topics, Selman's group discusses how to interact with your children during a divorce or separation and how to avoid using the children as a means to strike out at an ex-spouse.

The Divorce Support Group is open to men and women and offers a caring, expressive environment for those interested in rebuilding their lives. "Facing the new realities of being a formerly married, but now single person is much easier if you face them together in a divorce support group setting," affirmed Selman (http://www.barryselman.com).

The Divorce Support Group meets every Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1709 Legion Road, Suite 112 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
