Press release from: OS Reviews

Stuttgart, GERMANY -- April 03, 2006 -- OS Reviews, the first website exclusively focussed on reviewing Open Source software has been launched today. Available at www.osreviews.net are the first approximately twenty articles, many more soon to follow.

"We have tested the programs thoroughly," says Hendrik Weimer, the
founder of OS Reviews. "We even found some security holes, which we reported to the developers." The reviews feature software from many different areas such as 3D visualization, search engines or VPN solutions.

The reviewed programs are all available under a license approved by the Open Source Initiative (OSI) or conform to the free software guidelines of the Debian project. "The most important aspect is whether a program is Open Source software," affirms Weimer, "we will only write about programs that do not depend on proprietary code, even though this rules out most Java projects."

OS Reviews aims for a collaboration with the free software community. As a first step the reviews will be available soon for download under a free license.
