Restaurant Depot Implements Crimson Transaction Technologies’ EMV Solutions

Press release from: Crimson Transaction Technologies

Toronto, Ontario and College Point, NY – September 18, 2017 – Restaurant Depot, a division of Jetro Holdings, LLC, a wholesale cash and carry offering food and other supplies to food service businesses and grocery retailers, has certified their EMV solution with Crimson Transaction Technologies (“Crimson”) an innovative provider of Point-of-Sale software for retailers, liquor stores, governments, and park fee collections.

Restaurant Depot has been using Crimson’s Scoria Credit Switch software since 2008. The Credit Switch supports a fully integrated solution which has been working seamlessly with Restaurant Depot’s own in-house Point-of-Sale system. The already implemented functionality included credit and debit processing, TransArmor point to point encryption (P2PE), and Level 3 credit card settlement.

Prior to implementing EMV, Restaurant Depot, as well as all other merchants, faced liability shifts for items purchased with fraudulent credit and debit cards, and required a payment solution that would prevent and resolve this. As a wholesale grocery operation with over 100 locations and 1300 lanes processing credit and debit transactions, card fraud would have had a significant financial impact to a business of such a size.

In order to create a solution Restaurant Depot and Crimson worked together by utilizing Crimson’s Credit Switch application, First Data payment processing and upgrading the software on Verifone’s MX915 PIN Pads.

Crimson offers customers EMV enabled solutions with an improved authentication standard for debit and credit transactions and reduces the possibility of processing fraudulent cards. David Mears, Director and co-founder at Crimson says, “As a long time valued customer, Restaurant Depot’s decision to implement their EMV solution with Crimson ensures the processing of secure payment transactions for both the business and their customers.”

In the few weeks since EMV has been activated, 16 Restaurant Depot locations have been implemented with an additional 110 locations to be installed by the end of September.
