Abstract:
In 2015, the value of ship, barge, and platform production in the U.S. amounted to $24.7B, stabilizing at the previous year level.Overall, the U.S. ship, barge, and platform output pursued a prominent growth from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +2.4%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +8% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of ship, barge, and platform shipments in the United States attained its maximum level of $25.3B in 2013. Afterwards, the growth in terms of the ship, barge, and platform production failed to regain its strength through to 2015.

Ships (including combat ships, troop transport vessels, fleet auxiliaries, and service craft), self-propelled, military, new construction was the major product category in the U.S. ship, barge, and platform manufacturing, with a share in total output standing near 51% in 2015. Ship repair, military lagged far behing, accounting for only the 18% share. The other related products together comprised approx. 32% of the total output.
