An unlikely friend in the fight to prevent global climate change

Press release from: CCGrass

Climate change is affecting everyone living on planet Earth. Each year it seems the news is filled with increasingly dire stories about how temperatures are becoming more extreme and environmental changes are impacting humans and animals alike. Frequently the impact is felt much more intensely in certain regions compared to others. Even worse is that some global leaders doubt the science showing that humanity is having an impact on our shared climate. Considering all of these factors, we all have to make an effort to reduce our impact and improve the environment.

Missing Green

One common element of nearly every first world neighborhood is a lawn. It is such a ubiquitous part of the 2.5 kids and a white picket fence dream that its absence is striking. Many communities are experimenting with xeriscaping but often the key missing element of a lawn is too much to bear. One often overlooked alternative is artificial grass. Most likely an image pops into you mind immediately with that phrase; a bright green roll of thin plastic imposture grass, something no where near what a true lawn looks like. Much like every tool and material in our modern world, the humble artificial lawn has evolved too. Modern artificial grass is made with varying colors and varying shapes of soft plastic that look significantly closer to a real lawn.

The Cost of Green

Having a real grass lawn has many unseen costs, both actual and hidden. The largest expense of a true lawn is clearly the water required to keep the sprawling grass alive. This has both a real cost, in the price of water which seems to be steadily climbing and the impact to our water reserves. As we consider on going climate change, water has become scarce in many communities due to reoccurring and persistent droughts, this is unlikely to change quickly. Other costs to a growing green lawn are the chemicals that are needed to fertilize it and protect it from pests and other invasive species of plants. These chemicals have a direct cost but also a hidden cost in the painful diseases that can be caused by their use. More and more, cancer and neuro-degenerative diseases are being connected to these chemicals. Not only to they effect the grass they are

applied to but they persist in the runoff water that caries on to our storm drains and water supplies. Artificial lawns avoid all of these upfront and hidden costs.

Going Green

Going green with a synthetic lawn is easier than you think. Many communities are offering a water saving allowance for homebuilders who design new homes to conserve natural resources. Artificial grass can withstand far more extreme weather than a traditional lawn. Flooding, drought, irregular temperature changes, and many of the other effects from global climate change are of no impact to an artificial lawn. Another great benefit are the time and conservation savings from no longer needing to mow your lawn with polluting equipment. Contact your local building supplies provider and ask for CCGrass.
