Abstract:
In 2015, the value of motor vehicle body production in the U.S. amounted to $12.8B, picking up by +5.0% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. motor vehicle body output pursued a significant growth from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +2.5%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +11% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of motor vehicle body shipments reached its maximum level in 2015, and is likely to continue its growth in the immediate term.

Other truck and vehicle bodies for sale separately (including dumptruck lifting mechanisms and kit cars) accounted for the highest share (28% in 2015) of U.S. motor vehicle body manufacturing, leaving a considerable room for other trucks, complete, produced on purchased chassis (22%). The other related products with less notable individual shares together comprised approx. 51% of the total output.
