Samdale's PEGASUS - The Future for Independent Monitoring of the UK's National Public Safety Radio Network

03-10-2009 02:52 PM CET | Media & Telecommunications

Press release from: Samdale Ltd

Samdale, the world leaders in TETRA Network Monitoring and Optimization, are launching a National Service for users of Airwave, the UK’s Public Safety Radio System.

The Service is based on the company’s unique PEGASUS system, which has already been supplied to two European National Public Safety Networks.

Samdale will be officially launching this product at this year’s BAPCO Conference & Exhibition.

Samdale’s PEGASUS architecture allows enterprise scalability to a national level with a network of fixed, portable and roaming Pegasus Probes.

The Probes will be operated by multiple user organisations all reporting coverage and performance information to a national database for automatic processing and analysis.

Fleet, Samdale’s CEO commented “with all the UK’s first responders and many other public safety organisations sharing a common resource it makes sense to also share information on its performance”

The fully autonomous Pegasus Probes automatically gather coverage and performance data, encrypting and transmitting it live to the PEGASUS Server SQL Database where it is processed and analysed in “real-time”.

Where wireless connectivity is not available, data is buffered locally on the probe and automatically forwarded to the Server when a wired or wireless connection is available.

Whilst Fixed Probes monitor key sites “round-the-clock” and provide immediate alerts of service affecting events, Roaming Probes fitted to vehicles provide automatic, unattended drive test measurements.

When fitted to operational vehicles which are roaming an area on a daily basis, geographical coverage and performance data is automatically captured – for free.

By fitting Pegasus Probes to operational vehicles the geographical coverage and performance measurements become virtually “carbon-neutral” thus reducing the impact on the environment.

With a large number of user organisations each running a small number of Pegasus Probes, a comprehensive national picture of the Airwave Service is available in “real-time” on a 24/7 “round-the-clock” basis.

128 bit Encryption and Secure Access to the Pegasus SQL Database provide multi-level, multi-user access to captured data for authorised users.

The service includes Pegasus Management Console applications for viewing and controlling active probes and browser based secure access to pre-configured SQL Reports.
