In 2015, the value of switchgear and switchboard apparatus production in the U.S. amounted to $10.8B, waning by -3.7% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. switchgear and switchboard apparatus output pursued a measured growth from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures increased at an average annual rate of +0.1%. The trend pattern was relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2011, when the output figure increased by +7% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of switchgear and switchboard apparatus shipments in the United States peaked at $11.2B in 2014, falling back in the following year.

Switchgear, excluding ducts and relays accounted for the highest share (41% in 2015) of U.S. switchgear and switchboard apparatus manufacturing, leaving a considerable room for low voltage panelboards and distribution boards and other switching and interrupting devices, 1000 volts or less (23%).
