Bavaria Film Interactive and Flow Works implementing new Journalists Platform for SAP

Munich/Geiselgasteig, 5 March 2009 – Munich-based Bavaria Film Interactive GmbH and Flow Works GmbH have developed a software download platform for the Walldorf software company for use by press partners.

The portal provides footage material and photos for journalists to download at www.sap-tv.com/stockfootage. The primary advantage this offers is the round-the-clock availability of high-quality materials with no log-in barriers. The video material can be downloaded at broadcast quality and is tailored for use in modern off-line editing rooms.

As an agency and production house, the team supporting Lars Reckmann, Managing Director at Bavaria Film Interactive, has specialized in the production and distribution of web-based videos for internal and external corporate communication. Bavaria Film Interactive produces the reports and clips, publishes them on the various separately developed corporate video portals, and thereby realizes an added value for users. Reckmann explains: "With the footage platform, we have considerably expanded our commitment to SAP. Now our radio and press colleagues can also use SAP to access high-quality graphic materials for their own stories in a simplified and cost-efficient manner. To that end, we've already been offering up-to-date materials for download just hours after important events.

In implementing the service portal, Bavaria Film Interactive is again building on its partnership with Flow Works GmbH. While Bavaria Film Interactive concentrates on creating the communication concept, editorial oversight and reportage, Flow Works is providing the complete technical package with its "Flow Center" software. The corporate video portal at www.sap-tv.com has already been developed with this in mind.

For both projects, the advantages of a solution that is developed in its entirely by Flow Works are clear: New content can be published in just minutes and can be placed in proper context with other content using "related media objects". The Flow Center automatically generates all the required video formats on demand, starting with the source data, which the database holds at broadcast quality. All technical automation (ingest, transcoding, addition of web & text to the web site, links to the content delivery network) is an additional factor that lowers costs and reduces publishing times. In addition, Flow Works also hosts the entire package.
