Abstract:
In 2015, the value of photographic film production in the U.S. amounted to $5.7B, shrinking by -1.7% against the previous year level. Overall, the U.S. photographic film output pursued a noticeable decline from 2007 to 2015. The total output figures decreased at an average annual rate of -4.0%. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2012, when the output figure increased by +8% from the previous year level. Over the period under review, the total value of photographic film shipments in the United States attained its maximum level of $7.6B in 2008. Afterwards, the growth in terms of the photographic film production failed to regain its strength through to 2015.

Photographic sensitized film, plates, paper, and cloth, silver-halide-type (excluding X-ray) accounted for the highest share (37% in 2015) of U.S. photographic film manufacturing, leaving a considerable room for prepared photographic chemicals (33%). The other related products with less notable individual shares together comprised approx. 29% of the total output.
