Press release from: Image Access GmbH

At this year´s CeBIT, Image Access shows how large format documents can quickly and accurately be digitalized and provide a correct color output of the source document time after time.

At this year´s CeBIT, Image Access shows how large format documents can quickly and accurately be digitalized and provide a correct color output of the source document time after time.

Image Access, Wuppertal, a leading manufacturer of high-performance scanners, demonstrates new devices for fast and cost-efficient scanning and archiving of large, fragile or transparent documents at this year´s CeBIT (Hall 3, booth C30). The WideTEK large format family of scannners are the first devices to feature an online tool for creating an individual ICC profile.

For scanner operators handling large format documents, the company offers effective solutions for digital image capturing. The large format scanners scan documents at a high speed in full color and at an optical resolution of up to 1200 x 600 dpi. The product range covers scanners for documents in 25, 36, 42 and 48 inches in width.. In 2008, the WideTEK 36 won BERTL´s BEST Award and was named „the fastest and most innovative large format color scanner“ in the industry. Due to intuitive operation, optimized scanning speed and modern camera technology the devices deliver accurate scan results and save labor costs.

„The large format market is expecting more and more productive scanning solutions – to handle as the highest scan volume possible in the least amount of time. Therefore we focus our research and development on continuous optimization of the scan speed, the scan quality and on the extensive automation of the operating cycles“, emphasized Thomas Ingendoh, President of Image Access. Due to higher scanning speeds, the operational cycle time can be reduced up to 80 percent. Aside from lower production costs, the scanner’s very low maintenance requirements are another positive aspect. The dust protected camera technology, together with patented stitching procedure, LED illumination (50,000 hours lifetime) and the low number of consumables make the product practically maintenance-free.

Intuitive operation

All scanners are outfitted with a built-in touch screen, controlling the functions of the device. With a monitor directly connected to the scanner, the device can be used without the need for a client PC. Using walk-up scanning, the operator sends the images directly to an FTP server, the windows network, a network printer, a USB stick or via eMail.

Guaranteed color output from scan to printout

The WideTEK scanners are the first large format scanners utilizing an online tool for creating an individual ICC profile. With the software option Scan2ICC, the colors in the scan are optimized to match the original document. Color variations caused by ambient light or temperature fluctuation are compensated for. The user can be certain that the scanned image and a print of the image both present the same color quality. In addition, Scan2ICC is more cost effective and simpler to operate than other third party software.

Optimal for fragile and transparent documents

The WideTEK scanners are predestined for scanning historical and valuable documents. The gentle document transport using spring-loaded ball bearings allows a maximum protection. The scanner can handle old, fragile or transparent drawings without problems. The optimized LED illumination, the optional white backplate and the adaptive 2D binarization algorithm ensure the user high contrast results and provide a more cost-effective alternative than conventional backlight units.

Flatbed scanner – proven technology in a compact package

The flatbed scanner WideTEK 25 integrates the same proven hardware architecture and technological platform of the larger format scanners. The device scans documents in formats up to 25 x 17.7 inches and is also outfitted with integrated touch screen. The scanner scans source documents in the largest format in brilliant color in only 3 seconds at 300dpi. The maximum optical resolution is 1200 x 600 dpi. Its compact size, low maintenance design and integrated walk-up scanning software make it the ideal solution for reprographics, copy services, press clipping services as well as in universities, libraries, architectural, engineering and construction offices.
