Press release from: Cosateq GmbH Co. KG

An innovative real time simulation environment reduces both development time and cost significantly

Wangen, Dresden, February 18, 2009 – Cosateq GmbH & Co. KG – the specialist in the field of simulation and control engineering – and ITI GmbH – one of the internationally leading companies in virtual system engineering – announced a strategic partnership. The collaboration of ITI and Cosateq will enable customers to use the best of both companies’ core strengths. This will be accomplished by technical integration of their products and the creation of complete PC solutions for rapid control prototyping and HiL simulation of technical systems as well as by coordinated marketing and sales activities. ITI integrates SimulationX models with Scale-RT, a real time simulation environment developed by Cosateq, and carries out a simplified execution of physical systems/applications in real time hardware-in-the-loop. This results in minimizing cost and time expenses when testing prototypes. Furthermore, the partnership’s aim is to expand to new markets in Asia, especially in China.

SCALE-RT ideal platform to SimulationX
SimulationX – a modeling software developed by ITI – is creating great user advantage when integrated with SCALE-RT by Cosateq. This ideal connection is reflected in the strategic partnership of the two companies.

SCALE-RT in combination with simulation tools like SimulationX executes the development cycle in one process chain starting with modeling to offline simulation and optimization followed by real time simulation in addition with control device hardware. This complete solution of HiL simulation is especially made for simulating electronic control units and physical model software: The plant model integrated in the SCALE-RT real-time simulation environment provides the electrical stimuli needed to fully exercise the original hardware (e.g. control unit). The behavior of complex systems can in consequence be analyzed at an early development phase.

SimulationX is based on a physical-oriented modeling philosophy and supports design, analysis, and optimization of overall systems including all sub-systems on one platform. This software includes a variety of innovative engineering simulation tools, combined with an intuitive user interface that offers a quick and reliable modeling and analysis of complex dynamic systems. “ITI simulation software acts as modeling and calculation platform in order to analyze system behavior. This supports the engineer in a quick, thorough, and efficient way to create, calculate, and optimize a physical model of an open loop system,” explains Jens Schindler, managing director of ITI GmbH, and adds: “Engineers, scientists and developers working with SimulationX are able to boost their efficiency and productivity by using it in combination with Scale-RT. Thanks to the integration of the Linux based simulation software SCALE-RT into the product development process a real time connection to the real world becomes possible.”

According to Peter Schilm, managing director of Cosateq, users enjoy the benefits of both software solutions: “Customers get an efficient and reliable real time simulation system, which significantly reduces the time of the development process while improving its quality. Furthermore, there is an economical potential in reduced time-to-market.“

The goal of this strategic partnership is to increase sales activities in new markets in Asia, especially China. “We recognize signs for growth in Asia and the importance for affordable high quality simulation and modeling software like SCALE-RT and SimulationX in automotive and aerospace industries as well as in mechanical engineering and measurement,” states Peter Schilm regarding the future of ITI and Cosateq.

About SCALE-RT
The Linux-based SCALE-RT real-time simulation environment offers a flexible host-target prototyping environment for applications running on a cost-efficient PC-compatible hardware. SCALE-RT is a scalable product based on open-source software, which includes the reliable Linux kernel with real-time Xenomai extension. It supports powerful multi-core processor architectures and a wide variety of I/O hardware.
By integrating seamless into simulation tools like Scilab and Scicos®, MATLAB® Simulink® (incl. Stateflow®), or SimulationX®, SCALE-RT offers a comprehensive software suite for the development of professional applications. SCALE-RT is extremely flexible, cost-effective, and scalable. There are 3 variations of the product available: classic, concert, and opus. See details on www.scale-rt.com

About ITI
For more than 18 years ITI has been one of the internationally leading companies for the virtual system engineering. The software SimulationX is applied by engineers and scientists at more than 600 well-known companies such as Audi, BMW, Daimler, Volkswagen, Continental, Schaeffler, Siemens, Demag, Husky, Nikon, Mitsubishi and Liebherr. SimulationX is also widely used in academics and research world-wide. Main fields of application are power engineering, Power transmission, fluid power, mechanical engineering, power generation and automotive. Apart from this ITI supports its clients in the field of research and development of high-technology with engineering and consulting services. Further information on www.iti.de

About SimulationX
SimulationX - The Driving Force in System Simulation determines the level of modeling, simulating and optimizing complex technical systems. The software models the interaction of components from a multitude of domains including their mutual interaction and feedback on one platform. This significantly distinguishes SimulationX from any other kind of CAE software (FEM, CFD, MBS). SimulationX is a standard software for valuation of the interaction of all components of technical systems. It is the universal CAE tool for modeling, simulating and analyzing physical effects – with ready-to-use model libraries for 1D mechanics, 3D multi-body systems, power transmission, hydraulics, pneumatics, thermodynamics, electrics, electrical drives, magnetics as well as controls – post-processing included. SimulationX fully supports Modelica® language and offers a wide range of open, comprehensive CAx-interfaces. Further information on www.simulationx.com
