Also announces the ‘Roland Creative Centre’ initiative in addition to showcasing Roland’s entire range of printing solutions

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, February 17, 2009: Emirates Computers, along with its partner – Roland DG, Japan, today announced the launch of the revolutionary Roland VersaUV LEC-300, the world's first wide-format UV inkjet printer/cutter in the Middle East at Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East 2009 (S&GI). The company also announced the ‘Roland Creative Centre’ initiative in the region. Emirates Computers is demonstrating the technical prowess of Roland's printing products and is looking to sign new customers at the niche technology event.

Speaking on the event, Mr. M. Karthik, Sales Manager - Roland Division, Emirates Computers said, “Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East is a niche event for the printing industry, which brings together leading international manufacturers, suppliers and the regional buyers together under one roof. Emirates Computers has been participating in this event for the last 11 years as it is a perfect platform for us to showcase the latest printing solutions from our partner Roland. This year, we launched the world’s first wide-format UV inkjet printer/cutter – the Roland VersaUV LEC-300 in the Middle East and also showcased Roland's latest large format printers, vinyl cutters, scanners and other printing solutions.”
The new environmentally friendly Roland VersaUV LEC-300 is the world’s first UV inkjet printer/cutter which uses safe, low-heat LED lamps. VersaUV prints CMYK + White + Clear on a wide range of substrates including foils, metallic and synthetic papers, BOPP, PE and PET film for unmatched color, texture and dimension. At 30 inches wide, the LEC-300 is a highly versatile production tool that can be used for both short production runs and pre-press applications such as label proofs, packaging comps and prototypes. The clear coat adds remarkably rich special effects ranging from high-gloss finishes for area highlights to custom-textured effects such as faux leather and crocodile skin.
At S&GI 2009, Emirates Computers also launched the Roland Creative Center (RCC) initiative, where Roland and its partners will be able to invest in exploring new ideas and applications that can be produced using the Roland range of products. At a later stage, the company plans to establish a permanent center in the region wherein new business/application initiatives will be announced and demonstrated to the industry throughout the year.

“In the wake of the current economic crisis, sign makers feel the need to explore beyond the traditional markets to remain profitable in their business and the RCC will offer them a forum to do so. We introduced the RCC initiative at this show and will later establish a permanent center in the region. As a start, Emirates Computers has flown in industry experts from Italy to demonstrate Doming & R-wear application initiatives to customers visiting our stand,” Mr. Karthik explained.

In addition to the above announcements, Emirates Computers is also demonstrating the features and benefits of Roland Soljet Pro III XC-540 – a 54 inch wide, 6 color, print & cut plotter; Roland Soljet Pro III XJ-740 – a 74 inch wide, 6 color, solvent printer; Roland Versacamm VP-540 – a 54 inch wide, 4 color, print & cut plotter; and Roland VersaArt RS-640/540 – 64/54inch wide, 4 color, solvent printer 2D & 3D engravers.

Emirates Computers and Roland are exhibiting at Stand M5 (Central Hall) at Sign & Graphic Imaging Middle East 2009. Senior executives from both companies are available at the stand to meet delegates, partners and potential customers.
