KiniDia Launches Malaysia’s First Gift-Recommending Chatbot
Find the perfect gift for your friends just by chatting on Facebook Messenger

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Today, KiniDia, an internet entertainment website, launched a chatbot programmed to recommend gifts that users can buy online. This is the first chatbot built as a gift finder by a Malaysian company for Malaysian audiences.

Users need only to chat with KiniDia’s page on Facebook (m.me/KiniDiaMedia) for the entire experience. With Facebook’s messaging interface, users can easily respond with a few preset buttons. The chatbot will only ask two questions: what type of gift you’re looking for and what your budget is. Answering those will yield a pre-curated list of gifts and links through which users can buy online, through third-party stores.

As a secondary function, the KiniDia Chatbot can also show users a random funny picture, as an entertaining aside.

As more and more shopping apps become available for smartphones, choosing and installing one can add friction to users. With a chatbot integrated on Facebook, you only need to use your existing Facebook account to start engaging with it. This means that users can do so on Facebook.com on a personal computer browser, or the Facebook Messenger app on smartphones for those who already have it installed.
