KUKA Roboter is demonstrating its competence in the foodstuffs industry at “Anuga FoodTec 2006”

Cologne, Germany, April 2006 – “Anuga FoodTec” is the world’s most important platform for innovative strategies and solutions in the foodstuffs industry. This trade fair is opening its gates once again from 4 to 7 April to give business visitors from within Germany and abroad the opportunity to inform themselves about the latest products and technological developments in the fields of production, packaging, storage and distribution. It goes without saying that KUKA Roboter GmbH will be making the most of this opportunity to present its process-oriented automation solutions that have been specially developed for all branches of industry. Together with sister company IWKA Packaging, KUKA Roboter GmbH will be exhibiting at the joint booth L040/O049 in Hall 6. There, visitors can gain an insight into how flexibly and actively a robot can assist its human colleagues in the beverages industry, for example. In a showcase application example, a KUKA KR 60 robot will be demonstrating the “mixed palletizing” of beverage crates.

The variety of potential uses of industrial robots continues to grow. Now in the foodstuffs and beverages industry, too. They can tend packaging machines and palletize cans, crates or displays. In addition to these purely handling-related tasks, they can also perform intelligent functions, such as quality control using scanners and camera systems. Industrial robots are flexible and work with great precision. They relieve their human colleagues of monotonous and physically demanding chores. The length of a working shift is not an issue for them. They can be floor-, wall- or ceiling-mounted and the KUKA product spectrum covers payloads from 3 kg to 500 kg. The range includes palletizing experts, deep-freeze specialists and a master of wet room applications.
The KR 15 SL stainless steel robot, for example, is ideal for automation in branches such as meat, cheese and milk production.

Icy temperatures as low as minus 30 degrees Celsius do not trouble the KR 180 PA Arctic palletizing robot – indeed, it was specifically developed for work in such frosty conditions. Without the need for a protective suit and fitted with a special freezer technology dress package, it is the expert for the deep-freeze sector. Furthermore, industrial robots load and unload packaging machines, cut sides of pork, and perform stacking and palletizing tasks.
KUKA robots can be used in so many diverse applications in the foodstuffs industry that it is only possible to present a small selection at the fair. A visit to KUKA Roboter GmbH at the joint booth with IWKA Packaging will nonetheless leave you with a good impression of the robot manufacturer’s overall competence in this industry. In one-to-one conversations, the KUKA team will then be happy to discuss the full range of KUKA products.
