Ashampoo® WinOptimizer 6: Overhauled Windows cleanup and tools suite with new functions and general improvements

The new Ashampoo WinOptimizer 6 builds on its winning formula and adds an advanced new background disk defragmenter, AntiSpy options for curbing some of the most onerous Windows privacy threats and an overhaul of its existing cleanup and configuration tools for even better and more efficient performance. Built on 11 years of experience in Windows cleanup and optimization, the new version is safe and reliable as well as being more effective.

Microsoft Windows may have got more advanced but the need for effective maintenance is still as great as ever. Keeping a Windows system “tidy” and free of data garbage with the on-board tools is not something most users have time for. Ashampoo WinOptimizer packs everything you need to keep Windows clean and tuned in a single, self-explanatory point-and-click interface. It combines Windows and hard disk cleanup and maintenance modules with a full suite of useful utilities and configuration tools. For those in a hurry there’s also the One-Click Optimizer, which runs all the cleanup tools with safe and effective settings at the touch of a button. New features
Defrag 3 disk defragmenter
This new disk defragmenter can be used manually but it also has an intelligent background service that automatically cuts in and defragments hard drives whenever the computer is idle. This doesn’t interfere with other programs or normal work and it keeps the drive optimally defragmented all the time. It effectively prevents defragmentation before it can happen, which is why we call it “predictive” defragmentation. It also features Windows Boot Time defragmentation that can speed up Windows startup. Defrag 3 fully supports Windows Vista and is exceptionally efficient, with a very small footprint and minimal system overheads.

AntiSpy module
This module enables users to adjust a number of settings in Windows and other programs that pose potential threats to privacy and security. For example, many users don’t even know that Remote Desktop is activated in Windows by default, and when they find out what information Windows Media Player shares with the world at large they generally want to put a stop to that too. The AntiSpy module provides a simple point-and-click interface for turning these privacy-related settings on and off, complete with detailed information on each setting.

Favorites tab and Context Menu Manager
The Favorites tab makes using WinOptimizer even easier by automatically generating a live list of the WinOptimizer tools you use most frequently, along with interesting statistics on everything you have done with the tools and modules. The Context Menu Manager provides configuration access to the right-click menus in Windows Explorer, enabling you to enable and disable items and features in these useful popup menus, For example you can add entries like Defragment with…, Wipe with… and Encrypt with… to the context menus.

Improvements
All the WinOptimizer tools and modules have been overhauled for better and more effective performance, with many display, interface and functionality improvements in all tools and modules.

The very popular One-Click Optimizer is more thorough and efficient than ever.

The Drive Cleaner> module that locates and gets rid of redundant files is now faster and more accurate, with new exception options and individual configuration settings, including new features for user-defined file filters.

The Registry Optimizer that locates and deletes redundant Windows Registry entries has a new scan algorithm that is faster and more accurate.

Internet Cleaner, which deletes the temporary files and data trail created by web browsing, now supports the latest generation of browsers, including browser “derivatives” based on major web browser engines.

The Windows Tweaking Tools module includes many new Windows system settings, including “secret” settings that are not available directly in Windows itself, plus an automatic backup that makes it possible to reverse changes made at any time.

The System Benchmarktool now links to an online database where users can compare the performance of their systems with those of other users.
