Micro Technologies and ARAI announce a strategic tie up for developing automotive electronic products for the Indian and global markets

MOU signed for product regulatory requirements, performance requirements and design aspects of automotive products

Mumbai, March 17, 2006: Micro Technologies (India) Limited, one of India’s leading product development IT company and Automobile Research Association of India (ARAI), the country’s premier automotive R&D, testing and certifying organization today announced a strategic tie up for future collaboration for joint development and marketing of products and an advanced technological dialogue and exchange. The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed in the august presence of Mr. Shrikant R Marathe, Director, ARAI and Dr P. Sekhar, CMD, Micro Technologies (India) Limited.



As part of the initial agreement, Micro Technologies (India) Limited will be involved with developing products in the areas of monitoring of vehicle parameters related to exhaust emissions as a supplementary tool to inspection and certification regime. Also, another very unique partnership will be the development of Electronic Control Unit – ECU for CNG vehicles, two wheelers and selected four wheelers and heavy vehicles. Other than the above, any related projects which are mutually agreed between both the parties in the future will also be part of this broad understanding.



Commenting on the signing of this MOU Mr. Shrikant R Marathe, Director, ARAI said, “ The MOU will help the Indian automobile industry to reach global heights and we as the industrial research organization will immensely benefit from the product development strengths of Micro Technologies. Micro Technologies has in the recent past done some excellent work in the IT product development space and one of its products Micro VBB E-Car has been specially developed for automotive application. We expect to develop and market products together which will be of global standards and will be a benchmark for the global auto industry.”



Micro Technologies in consultation with ARAI will develop new projects and products for various automotive applications. The company would finalize the design with ARAI for each of the applications keeping in mind Indian as well as global trends. ARAI will test the prototypes for compliance with various standards and for suitability for intended standards.

Micro Technologies (India) Limited will provide product development and support to ARAI while the latter will test the prototypes developed by the company and evaluate it with respect to performance and regulatory requirements; ARAI will also test the prototypes for compliance with required standards. The company will share all data with ARAI which is relevant to the project and will manufacture and market the products which have been developed by them jointly.



Micro Technologies which has been chosen by ARAI for its product development and support initiative has also recently been selected by NASSCOM as a “Showcase Company for IT Innovation in India 2005”.
