It is located at Aabenraa in southern Denmark near the German border. “We're thrilled to be expanding our data center operations in Denmark, and investing in new sources of clean power,” said Erik Stannow, Nordic manager for Apple. The company’s first data center in Denmark is situated near the town of Viborg. Denmark is the leading source of wind power and biomass energy. GDS Holding Ltd. has begun construction of its fifth data center facility in Shanghai, China. It will be developed in two phases and target at providing services to financial service institutions (FSI). William Huang, the chairman and chief executive officer of GDS said that the center will be located within the cluster of bank and credit card processing centers. It will enable GDS to cater to growing demand of existing FSI customers. This facility will help in strengthening leadership position of GDS in the Shanghai market by adding over 15% to its total capacity. Construction of new data centers would enable rise in market share in domestic as well as international markets.

Cologix has developed a new $130 million data center facility in Columbus. It will become one of the biggest state-of-the-art facility with data capacity of 18MW. It will offer connectivity to 20+ cloud service providers, 45+ network service providers, and the Ohio-IX Internet Exchange. The company stated that it will be instrumental in maintaining 100% uptime facilitated by 2N redundancies and N+1 cooling on all extreme power infrastructures. It also announced that AWS Direct Connect is available and customers are able to connect their infrastructure through secure and private connection to the AWS cloud. It will help them enhance performance and reduce costs via the public Internet. The expansion strategy would help market players gain strong position and strengthen their position across the world.
