Attention Business Editors: New security governance service aimed at helping Canadian executives with compliance and information security decisions

Informatica Security introduces Confidential Decision Support service to assist with information security, compliance and risk management challenges.

Toronto, December 5, 2005 /PR/ Informatica Security announced today the launch of its Confidential Decision Support service - FlexProtect CDS - aimed at companies without extensive internal expertise in information security, risk management, compliance planning, business continuity, incident management and intellectual property protection. The service is based on Informatica’s existing FlexProtect solution structure, designed to offer organizations an effective and affordable way to manage information security operations.

Company president Claudiu Popa is a certified information security expert and one of a select group of consultants qualified to deliver the service: “We based CDS on consulting solutions on our experience with clients. They demand confidentiality, rapid turnaround and affordability. We are optimally positioned to deliver this solution and have built it into our FlexProtect line to enable clients to access additional services and expertise as part of the same yearly service plan.” Additional services available to FlexProtect clients include security awareness training, e-learning, audit preparation and security assessments. The customizable FlexProtect plans enable medium-size organizations to access current, world-class expertise at a fraction of the cost of employing a team of trained information security executives.

A scan of the most significant security breaches of 2005 indicates that information security challenges not only fall on the shoulders of busy executives but impact the entire organization. FlexProtect CDS adds an outsourcing dimension to information security governance that has previously not been available in the industry due to an economic focus on commercial products and a pervasive lack of management awareness. Such global studies as the Global State of Information Security 2005, produced by CIO and PricewaterhouseCoopers continue to indicate alarming trends that not only affect stock prices and bottom lines but more importantly the privacy and security of confidential customer data. In fact, 8 of the Top 10 strategic priorities for 2006 (as identified by executive survey respondents) require leadership and top-level executive decisions.

“There is no doubt that today’s executives are too busy to become security experts. Unlike the managers of the last decade, they now understand the importance of security within business operations but they need the confidential decision support to lead effectively, and that’s what we provide. By being a trusted part of security operations, we not only assist with prevention efforts, but also remove the pressure of conducting urgent due diligence on a service provider once a disaster strikes. It’s an ideal situation that saves companies money, time and critical resources.” said Popa. To date, his company has assisted with urgent security situation containment (such as incident response, phishing outbreaks and business continuity challenges), expert witness and client preparation for compliance audits.

Recurring services for security assurance and risk management

The FlexProtect solutions portfolio includes a complete array of options available nationwide as part of service plans that help organizations plan and budget for compliance and information security:
1. recurring security audits, testing, product certification and assessments
2. company-wide security awareness, employee certification and policy training programs
3. security support at every level, from IT to top-level management
