Strong interest in SGS Wind Energy and Project Finance Services

Speakers from SGS Turkey, Switzerland, the UK, Germany and India presented and discussed topics such as Risk Management of Wind Farms and the Licensing Process of Wind Energy Projects in Istanbul, Turkey.
130 participants from different parties in the energy sector, such as manufacturers, operators/contractors, consultants, banks, utility companies and the government attended the Renewable Energy Seminar.
Participants were provided with information about new developments, advances in technology, management issues and environmental matters in the renewable energy sector.
One of the most important topics presented at the seminar was Risk Management for Wind Farms. One of the major concerns when investing in wind turbines is the availability of turbines, i.e. the risk of losing or not having enough power production from the wind turbines due to stand still and repair. Therefore the reliability of the structures and the wind turbines themselves is essential for the wind farm to perform successfully. A minor failure can cause unacceptable down-time and loss of income Subjecting the wind farm project to certification, demonstrates awareness of the financial risk involved in the wind farm project. With the Wind Farm Project Certification offered by SGS, you can be sure that the wind turbine and its support structure meet site-specific conditions.

Other issues also discussed were Project Finance Services for Renewable Energy Projects and Turkey’s Wind Energy Market Current Situation.

The SGS Group is the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services. Founded in 1878, SGS is recognised as the global benchmark in quality and integrity. With more than 53,000 employees, SGS operates a network of over 1,000 offices and laboratories around the world.
