Magazines.com Names Joyce Shirer Vice President of Marketing
Franklin, TN--Joyce Shirer has been named Magazines.com Vice President of Marketing, Magazines.com CEO and President Jay Clarke announced today.“I am very excited about Joyce joining the executive team at Magazines.com. Joyce is a highly accomplished, very seasoned business leader,” said Clarke. “She possesses a rare blend of magazine circulation, consumer marketing and e-commerce expertise. She is well-suited to continue the culture of rapid, controlled growth that we have here at Magazines.com .”
Most recently, Shirer served as Senior Vice President of Circulation and Marketing for magazine and book publisher Rodale, Inc. Notably, Shirer led the circulation and marketing-related functions for the company and its nine magazine brands, including Men’s Health, Women’s Health, Prevention, Runner’s World, Running Times, Bicycling, BestLife, Mountain Bike and Organic Gardening. Her achievements were many, including the successful circulation launch of Women’s Health, and her key contributions to the tremendous growth of Men’s Health, which has been recognized on numerous occasions for its circulation excellence.
Shirer was a valuable part of the Rodale circulation team for 20 years, serving as Vice President, Subscription Circulation; Vice President, Men’s Health and Sports Group; Senior Consumer Marketing Director for Men’s Health and held various management positions before rising to Senior Vice President of Circulation in 2005.
“Magazines.com is a key player in the magazine industry, and I am thrilled to now be a part of the team,” said Shirer. “I’ve been a fan of the company for years, and am honored to take on the responsibility for marketing so many great magazines. Folio magazine named Shirer one of the “14 People We’d Hire if We Could Hire Anybody” in 2005 as a part of its “Dream Team” of professionals in the magazine industry. Folio’s editorial staff chose Shirer as their top pick for consumer circulation director after soliciting nominations from publishers, printers, consultants and media buyers.
Shirer will begin at Magazines.com on December 15.
