Siracom Introduces devolo Professional Products for 200Mb/s Ethernet over TV-Coax, Mains Power and 2-wire

Multifunction device gives organisations access to high bandwidth services and supports remote network configuration over existing cabling.

11 December, 2008 -Siracom, the value-added distributor of wireless and wired communications solutions has launched devolo’s dLAN 200AVpro2 and AVpro Host products in the UK. Aimed at business and industry, the products provide secure, reliable, manageable networking over existing wiring such as TV-coax, telephone wire and mains power cabling.

The dLAN 200 AVpro products operate at 200Mb/s making them ideally suited for transmission of data, voice and video (triple play services) and support multi-cast enabling deployment of IPTV where Cat5 cabling does not exist.

According to Siracom, the solution is ideal for networking in multi tenant residential buildings, conference centres, sports stadia, hospitals, holiday parks and hotels, in both indoor and outdoor environments. These sites are typically well cabled with coax for TV distribution, two-wire for telephone distribution, or have suitable mains power distribution. DLan200AVpro network-enables these existing cable infrastructures.

Digital signage, IPTV, wireless access points, point-of-sale systems, and internet connections all require a reliable network connection and in many circumstances wireless is not the answer.

“Providing Cat5 or fibre in anything but the office environment is often prohibitively expensive as well as being disruptive to the business. The AVpro provides a low cost, easily deployed and easily managed alternative.”

The dLAN 200 AVpro has a range up to 1500 metres in a coaxial network, up to 400 metres via 2 wire telephone lines, and up to 200 metres through power cables. Devolo is the first manufacturer to bring remote management and auto configuration of dLAN networks, and the product provides unrivalled security with AES encryption and a master slave topology which offers peer-to-peer isolation.

AVpro Host has an integrated, manageable switch permits the configuration of VLANs, so that four independent Ethernet connections can be mapped through a single adapter. Automatic port prioritisation regulates and controls data traffic, for example for real-time voice and video data. dLAN 200 AVpro host supports QoS (Quality of Service), both via dLAN and via Ethernet, and full SNMP support for remote configuration completes the range of features.

With the included dLAN 200 AVpro manager software, organisations can centrally set up, manage and monitor professional dLAN networks. In addition, the latest devolo product assigns variable network profiles individually for every device or segment connected.
