The brand new Lomo Lubitel 166+ by Lomography

Double up on the Lubitel+ Twin Features:
* Unique twin-lens design - View with the first lens & shoot with the second
* Double film format -Takes medium format film AND 35mm
* Not just double of the original! An improved Lomographic re-animation.
* Twice as close to capturing a lustful life.
* Picture character that can’t be doubled.

The Lomographic Society International is thrilled to introduce the brand new LOMO Lubitel 166+ medium format twin lens reflex camera, a loving recreation of the Soviet-era classic – the retro of tomorrow today. Based on a design that dates back over 60 years, it’s truly a mid-century masterpiece updated with stunning new features.

Its name “Lubitel”, meaning “Amateur” shouldn't be misunderstood. For “amateur” and "lover" share the same meaning in Russian. Who knows more about the pursuit of love and perfection than the amateur? And love it is when it comes to the motives behind this camera’s re-animation. Love for more creative possibilities, for a meticulously crafted camera, for unique analogue pictures… and simply a lustful way of capturing life.

The Lubitel 166+ is the camera for people who follow this bright and lustful analogue way, who seek to capture its rich and strong impressions on film. Shooting with the Lubitel 166+ is different to anything you will have shot before. Its light plastic body makes it your ideal daily companion.

As one of the few twin-lens cameras in production – and one of the cheapest pro-image quality, medium format cameras on the market – the Lubitel 166+ is incredible value and an exciting, new, fully manual tool for analogue photographers that offers limitless creative possibilities. Many new features have been engineered into the new Lomo Lubitel 166+ and accessories, such as lenses, bags and more, will expand its capacity in the future.

The bright colours, bold contrast, and exceptional sharpness of the original have been carefully reproduced within the new Lubitel 166+. When coupled with new coated-glass lenses, four flexible image formats and a myriad of other analogue factors; a look unique to Lubitel+ images is created. The combination of slowing things down, peering into a waist-level viewfinder and dialling in the correct focus and exposure settings, make shooting with the Lubitel 166+ a full-bodied experience that activates all of your senses. Controls are fully manual and two built-in exposure guides tell you the appropriate shutter and aperture settings for any given light situation.

Lubitel+ pictures have their very own look and special character. Sharp, artistic and painted with light, Lubitel+ images are sometimes surprising and often delicately vignetted around the edges. The result: you can see the analogue nature of each image, the thought of the Lomographer behind every situation, the grand history of this long-standing camera and – most importantly – the never ending world of unexpected effects and creative surprises. Rather than reflecting the objective reality, they reflect the subjective reality of the Lomographer who is composing the image and pulling the trigger.

The new Lomo Lubitel 166+ will make you look twice.

Lomo Lubitel 166+ Features
* Shoot richly detailed square and rectangular medium format (120) images
* NEW: Shoot images on 35mm film in a radically unique format: panoramic portraits where the image exposes the entire film – including the sprocket holes!
* NEW: Shoot “endless panorama” images on 120 film, in which there is no space between frames
* Hold the camera at waist level and look down into the viewfinder to compose your image.
* NEW: The Lubitel+’s viewfinder glass is perfectly flat and a pleasure to use. The original viewfinder used curved glass and was a bit tough to see in different light conditions.
* The bright colours, bold contrast, and exceptional sharpness of the original coated glass Lubitel lens have all been faithfully reproduced in the new Lubitel+ lens.
* NEW: the Lubitel+ lens focuses to 0.8m, while the classic Lubitel lens only focused to 1.4m. This means stronger and more intense portraits and close-up shots!
* NEW: You can precisely focus your Lubitel+ via the waist-level viewfinder or use the quick and easy “zone focus” settings of 0.8m, 1.5m, 3m, and infinity – just like the famous Lomo LC-A+ camera!
* NEW: A standard flash hotshoe allows you to easily sync an electronic flash to the Lubitel+
* The Lubitel+’s body is cast in lightweight plastic, allowing you to carry it everywhere as a daily companion, without any neck strains!

The Lubitel+ is available for direct purchase from www.lomography.com and selected high-end retailers around the world. Retail price is 300 Eur / 350 USD.
