EXASOL Announces Cooperation with Talend to Offer Customers Open Source Integration

11-13-2008 02:38 PM CET | IT, New Media & Software

Press release from: EXASOL AG

/ PR Agency: HBI PR&MarCom GmbH
Nuremberg, Germany, 12 November 2008 – EXASOL, the leading provider of high performance database management systems (DBMS) for data analysis and decision support, announced today that it has begun a cooperation with Talend to provide its customers with an open source integration capability.

Talend, headquartered near Paris, France, is the first provider of open source data integration software. The goal of the cooperation is to provide a set of connectors between Talend’s data integration solutions and EXASOL’s DBMS. The connection will provide EXASOL customers with Talend’s ETL (extract, transform, load), migration and synchronization technology.

Many integration products on the market today are based on proprietary technology, locking customers into a single vendor’s solutions. Talend provides an alternative in that it is entirely based on open source technology. The benefit for customers is easier integration of multiple types of data across the enterprise, dramatically higher performance, as well as increased data reliability and lower integration costs.

EXASOL customers are typically using exceptionally large databases for their data warehouse and business intelligence applications. Talend’s data integration technology provides a fast and scalable execution platform to load and process these large volumes of data faster. As it is open source, it offers the broad connectivity customers need to access their data and add new data sources.
“As the leading provider of open source integration solutions, we are naturally interested in ensuring we have the widest range of connectors to help customers integrate all elements of their information systems,” said Bertrand Diard, Talend’s Chief Executive Officer and co-founder. “We’re pleased to have the opportunity to work with EXASOL to develop connectors between the two systems. This will have significant benefits for EXASOL’s growing customer base, including improved performance from their information systems and reduced costs.”

The EXASOL DBMS, EXASolution, was designed from the outset with data warehousing and BI requirements in mind. The rapid and reliable analysis of very large data volumes is becoming increasingly difficult if not impossible for conventional database solutions to accomplish. With its unique in-memory processing and massively parallel technology, EXASolution substantially accelerates the speed of highlycomplex data queries by a factor of up to 100 at a very attractiveTCO. EXASolution derives its remarkable speed and performance from intelligent software and does not rely on expensive (high-end) hardware, an enormous plus for cost-efficient day-to-day operation.

“We’re confident that our current and future customers will gain important advantages from the connection between our solutions and Talend’s ETL, migration and synchronization technology,” said Gerhard Rumpff, Chief Executive Officer of EXASOL. “Connecting our high-performance DBMS with multiple data sources via open source integration offers our customers the best possible value.”
