Connecticut Businessman Named to Hall of Fame

SEYMOUR — Local businessman Larry Janesky was recently chosen as one of five Fairfield County business people named to the 2008 Junior Achievement of Western Connecticut Free Enterprise Hall of Fame, sponsored by Pitney Bowes. Janesky and the other honorees were given their awards at the Hall of Fame dinner in Bridgeport where Gov. M. Jodi Rell was the honorary chair.

Basement Systems (basementsystems.com) in Seymour, Connecticut, is the largest basement waterproofing and crawl space repair dealer network in the world. Janesky founded the company back in 1987 and has since patented 24 products. The company has won three business ethics awards, two consumer education awards and several quality and innovation awards. In 2006, it was voted one of the best places to work in Connecticut.

As a former carpenter and builder, Janesky has trained over 3,000 people over the past 16 years. He is a published author with articles in trade journals such as Fine Homebuilding and Permanent Buildings and Foundations, as well as several books under his belt. Janesky is an Eagle Scout and graduated from Bullard Havens High School in Bridgeport in 1982. He now lives in Middlebury with his wife and two children.
