Everspin Technologies Inc. recently unveiled its new system-level product line, partly as a means to seed the developing market for high-density MRAM devices that are based on the technology called Spin-Transfer-Torque (ST). The company introduced a group of storage accelerators, nvNITRO, which is touted to harness the ST-MRAM’s power for delivering exceptionally fast read and write times with extremely low latency.

The initial nvNITRO accelerators will be available on the market in capacities of 1- and 2-GB, based on the company’s 256Mb DDR3 ST-MRAM. Other capacities from 4-GB to 16-GB are said to be available later. As per the company, the initial two nvNITRO products, ES2GB & ES1GB are available in a “half-height, half-length” (HH-HL) PCIe card with two access types: Memory Mapped IO (MMIO) & Non-Volatile Memory (NVMe) Solid-State Drives (SSD). Additional nvNITRO products with different form factors will also be available eventually.
