CeBIT Health IT: Electronic Health Card already works (not only)

Hanover, January 28, 2006 – At the CeBIT 2006, InterComponentWare AG (ICW) presents a functioning system for the electronic health card at its stand D 22 in hall 9. The special feature: the ICW system not only includes the mandatory applications of the electronic health card like ePrescription or contract data management, but also the integration of the personal health record LifeSensor, an important voluntary application of the new health card infrastructure.

With the electronic health card system, which is currently being tested in Walldorf, physicians can access medical information with the consent of their patient, which was recorded in the personal health record by other physicians. With the linkup of medical practice management systems like Qmed.Praxis, the physician views the desired information in his accustomed practice software and can copy this to his own patient's record. Physicians can also copy documents from their systems to the health record thus making it available to other physicians.

Pharmacists can view the drug history and information about previous illnesses in the record. On this information basis, they can perform an extensive drug interaction and contra-indication check for newly prescribed drugs in the connected ADG pharmacy information system.

What's especially interesting for statutory and private health insurance companies: with the partner company ActivIdentity, ICW has already implemented the complete life cycle management of the electronic health card. The integrated card management (CMS) and card application management system (CAMS) cover the entire life cycle of the card from initial personalization via changes to insurance data and the integration of new applications up to blocking the card.
