Momentive Performance Materials, a leading manufacturer of custom heat-cured elastomers, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and RTV adhesives, announces the completion of its new Addisil* elastomers family of addition heat-curable elastomers (HCEs).

LEVERKUSEN, GERMANY - OCTOBER 10, 2008 - Momentive Performance Materials, a leading manufacturer of custom heat-cured elastomers, liquid silicone rubber (LSR) and RTV adhesives, today announced the completion of its new Addisil* elastomers family of addition heat-curable elastomers (HCEs). The new elastomers feature next-generation properties that offer regulatory compliance, high clarity, enhanced mechanical performance and superior productivity.

Products are now available in 40, 50, 60, 70 and 80 Shore A, covering the needs of a wide range of applications. Each Shore A hardness is available as a one-part, ready-to-use product as well as a two-part system which provides shelf life (e.g. for long-distance transportation), long pot-life and high productivity. These variations are offered for two dedicated product lines, including Addisil 4X0 E series for Healthcare and the Addisil IND series for industrial extrusion applications.

“Our new Addisil products allow us to respond to the increasing specialization in the market place,” said Jon Chard, Custom Compound Manager, Momentive Performance Materials Europe. “Our customers need materials they can use to comply with the relevant application standards, we performed a range of standard tests such as biocompatibility for the Healthcare grades and drinking water tests for the industrial products.” For instance, Momentive Performance Materials can offer KTW A certification for their Addisil IND 1 & 2 component series from 60 Shore A to 80 shore A, suitable for drinking water applications.

“Addition curable grades are key to our future business growth as well as the growth of our customers,” Chard continued. “They provide both technical and processing advantages, which are key in today’s specialized markets. We have invested significantly in this area and have plans to extend this in the future.”

The new Addisil HCE portfolio provides Momentive customers with products suitable for a broad range of applications. In addition, Momentive Performance Materials is continuously looking to develop new high performance products.

Technical experts will be available at the Fakuma www.fakuma-messe.de 2008 booth (Hall Hall B2 Stand B2-2107) October 14th--18th to discuss how the new Addisil products can benefit companies in health care, industrial extrusion and other industries. In Europe, Momentive Performance Materials’ HCE compounds are produced in Lostock, UK.
