THAILAND BOARD OF INVESTMENT SIGNS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH OXFORD BUSINESS GROUP FOR “THE REPORT: THAILAND 2009”

Bangkok – September 29, 2008: Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) today signed a memorandum of understanding with Oxford Business Group (OBG), the highly-acclaimed global publishing, research and consultancy firm, for the production of The Report: Thailand 2009.

As part of the MOU, the BOI will provide a refined assessment of the Thailand’s business climate to be utilized by OBG’s team of experienced international analysts based in the Kingdom. They will be conducting two hundred interviews with leading political and economic figures in their research for The Report, and when completed, will become the premier guide for foreign direct investment into the country’s vibrant economy.

Kimberly Hartman, Country Director, OBG, explains that such partnerships serve to enhance the publisher’s in-depth market knowledge and expertise.

“Today’s signing underscores OBG’s commitment to cooperating with locally-based organisations in compiling our series of top level country economic and political assessments.

“BOI’s extensive experience will help maintain our reputation as the number one provider of comprehensive and accurate analyses of developments and I am very pleased to have them on board as our partners,” Kimberly Hartman added.

“This business guide will feature the country’s macroeconomics, infrastructure, political and business landscape, for which the BOI will provide vital guidance. It will become a must read for businesses considering investing”

Satit Chanjavanakul, BOI Secretary General, said that joining efforts with Oxford Business Group to publish The Report: Thailand 2009 is in line with the BOI’s strategy and mission in supporting the business community in Thailand and introducing investors and businessmen worldwide to the latest economic development features and investment opportunities available in the Kingdom.

Thailand has recently been lifted to 13th on World Bank’s Doing Business 2009, reflecting its outstanding attractiveness as a top investment destination.

“This is another step of our proactive move in boosting investors’ confidence during Thailand Investment Year 2008-2009. We wish the report offer an in-depth into Thailand’s vibrant economy. It will also illustrate the aspects of the BOI’s long-term strategy in enhancing comprehensive economic growth, investment and sustainability,” Mr. Satit added.

The Report: Thailand 2009, will feature a series of exclusive interviews with key officials and business leaders in what is to be considered as the most extensive, independent, unbiased and accurate intelligence available.

When completed, it will form part of the range of OBG’s publications, which are renowned as leading sources of information on developing and emerging economies around the world.
