YXLON presents tape and reel inspection solution at electronica 2008

Press release from: YXLON International GmbH

Garbsen, 29.09.2008, YXLON International GmbH, the leading supplier of industrial X-ray inspection- and computed tomography (CT) solutions for the non-destructive testing of materials and electronics, presents a Tape and Reel Module for their most versatile X-ray solution, Y.Cougar, at electronica (booth 346 in hall A1).

Microfocus X-ray technology enables the in-depth inspection for minute structures and defects hidden within miniaturized devices and systems. For semiconductor devices in tape and reel packaging, X-ray inspection can be deployed for fast and non-destructive component screening without removing the devices from their packaging. Manual and automated inspections allow the detection of various defects, such as voiding, bond wire opens and shorts, and loop sagging. Furthermore, counterfeit components can be identified and marked while still in the embossed tape. X-ray inspection prevents such defective components from being assembled in circuit boards.

YXLON offers a range of Feinfocus Solutions for advanced microfocus X-ray inspection that can be deployed at various stages in electronic device and system production. A novel Tape & Reel Module is presented at electronica for the compact and versatile Y.Cougar solution. Entire component reels are loaded for comfortable inspection. Advanced microfocus technology permits outstanding quality, high resolution X-ray images of taped components. Overview images and high magnification detailed views are analyzed, leading to pass/fail results and devices are marked accordingly.

For largest versatility, the Y.Cougar can be configured within a couple of minutes for general two-dimensional X-ray inspection or high resolution microfocus computed tomography. Excellent ergonomics and the intuitive to use Y.FGUI software for system control and image analysis completely remove the high-tech burden of operating the Feinfocus Solution.

Come and see us for a demonstration of the Y.Cougar – now also featuring the Tape and Reel Module at booth 346 in hall A1.
