Texas (USA), Canada (Toronto) & India (Business Network)- 23nd May 2017: Kanishk Sajnani, a 20 year old Computer Engineering student managed to book an airline ticket for Air India, ClearTrip, SpiceJet by paying just Rs. 1!
Kanishk Sajnani, an ethical hacker revealed his encounters with the bugs in applications of Air India, ClearTrip, SpiceJet.

Airline giants after receiving e-mails about the hack started working on the cyber security and few of them asked for assistance. This hacking incident, indicates that companies do not pay the necessary attention required for security of their products or web services.
Loss of critical customer details would cost huge repercussions on a company’s revenue, brand image and business longevity. Every company should have a Responsible Disclosure Policy and an IT Security roadmap to prevent and tackle incidents like these.

The hacker says his motto behind hacking these applications was to warn these big brands about the vulnerability and security breaches in their apps. He not only informed respective companies about the loopholes but also assisted few of them fix the bugs and vulnerabilities present.

Since a 20 something guy can hack apps of famous airline companies allowing him to travel the world for free, it is imperative for companies to use Cyber security testing for their softwares and applications to avoid such attacks. Poor cyber security testing results into cyber attacks that can cost companies a huge loss.
