Springfield, MO – As millions of teens head back to school, if trend data is accurate, too many of them will be using alcohol and energy drinks to get buzzed and wired as part of their extracurricular activities. In response to this problem, CafePrevention.com has created its newest postcard targeted towards drug and alcohol abuse prevention coalitions, schools, parents, and groups focusing on underage drinking prevention. With this new alcohol awareness card, these groups now have access to new prevention materials related to alcoholic energy drinks that are becoming so popular among teens.

Café Prevention is pleased to announce an affordable, educational and hard-hitting postcard designed for parents “Do You Know What’s In This Can….Your Teen Does”. As studies show and teens can attest to, most parents are unaware of the popularity of alcoholic energy drinks and many, by just looking casually at a can, would assume it was a non-alcoholic energy drink. Most parents, we have found, are also unaware of the high alcohol content in these alcoholic energy drinks. Further, they do not understand the dangers of high caffeine use, are unaware that these drinks may be purchased from convenience stores that many teens frequent, and may not stop to think that alcohol use, in any form, is illegal under the age of 21.

Café Prevention’s newest postcard, designed for adults, can help spread the word about the trends and effects of underage drinking. This alcohol abuse prevention resource is in an ideal format to mail to parents to get them up to speed as the new school year begins. It is also a great format to have available in physician’s and sports medicine offices, emergency rooms, libraries, and in work environments. Information on the postcard also discusses how some teens are mixing vodka or other spirits with nonalcoholic energy drinks – an equally dangerous practice.

Further, data shows that mixing alcohol with caffeine may mask the effects of the alcohol, making the user seem not as impaired as they really are. Yet, the consequences are the same as that of too much alcohol. The use of alcoholic energy drinks can lead to all the same risky behaviors – unplanned sex, car crashes, and violence, as well as school failure, lost scholarships, and a negative impact on career choices.

As most teens do not understand the inherent dangers of alcoholic energy drinks, a new poster, designed to go along with the parent postcard, is also available and is perfect for displaying in schools and other locations where teens frequently visit.

As a new school year begins, it is imperative to get the word out about the use of alcoholic energy drinks by teens. Visit http://www.cafeprevention.com to view their newest postcard, ‘Do You Know What’s In This Can…Your Teen Does’, as well as a complete line of quality, affordable drug and alcohol prevention products.
