About 500 international guests from all societal strata will be expected for this event celebrating 100 years of German – Iraqi Cooperation in the field of archaeology.

In the centre of the event the German Archaeological Institute which resorts in the German Foreign Ministry (DAI, www.dai.de ) will illustrate its work. To this end its Director, Dr, Magarete van Ess will speak on “The Case of Babylon” which is, in addition, illustrated through a broad range of photos from Iraq (some of which so far unpublished).
