CynapsPro arrives in the UK looking for reseller and integrator partners to build its business

Today, 3 September 2008, CynapsPro, an international security software producer, is entering the UK marketplace with its advanced corporate information security solution. CynapsPro Suite, as it is known, prevents unauthorised users from using all kinds of internal or external devices, encrypts data saved to USB storage and restricts the use of applications to authorised employees. It makes an organisation’s information on lost or stolen memory devices inaccessible to the finder, and stops unauthorized users from saving it to a portable device in the first place.

Currently, CynapsPro solutions are used worldwide by over 600 organisations, covering over 325,000 user endpoints. The company aims to reach the UK marketplace through reseller and integration partners, which it now seeks to appoint. However, any individual can download the CynapsPro Suite from the company’s website, www.cynapspro.com. This download provides the full security facilities of CynapsPro and is not time limited. It may be used for up to 5 users free of charge.

The CynapsPro Suite has three modules, DevicePro 2008, ApplicationPro 2008 and CryptionPro 2008. DevicePro protects information against theft, ApplicationPro 2008 manages access to applications on a need to use basis and CryptionPro 2008 enables encryption protection to be used with information contained on external memory storage devices including memory sticks.

Pricing for the new software is on a per seat basis. Pricing starts from £27.90 per seat for the complete suite. Cost per seat reduces with volume. For larger user requirements, the CynapsPro Suite will also be available on a subscription. For example, pricing for a user with 5000 seats would be in the region of £95,000 or £2500 per month subscription.

The CynapsPro Suite can be synchronized with MS Active Directory, or Novell eDirectory and has a central management console through which all the system administration, port, role, encryption and application management is configured and controlled. Comprehensive auditing and reporting is provided.

The DevicePro 2008 module of the CynapsPro Suite guarantees that no in-house data can be copied to a USB-thumb drives or an external hard disc without full authorisation. No one can bring in viruses, trojans or other infections via USB-thumb drives or other external devices. Only authorised USB-thumb drives, digital cameras and storage media corresponding with company policies are allowed. Only those employees actually entitled to do so can use external devices. It has Group-/User-/Machine specific assignment of rights with tamperproof Protocols (Sarbanes Oxley/Basel II).

Other features of this module include: an intuitive management console; the directory import and management of external users; a sophisticated rights management by user or client machine facility; a complete revision information and audit trail; device whitelisting and a time limited unblocking capability for mobile users.

The ApplicationPro 2008 module of the CynapsPro Suite manages the use of applications within an organisation, controlling the use of and access to applications. Using a whitelist facility, users can be given full access to particular applications or restricted to ‘read-only’ or time limited access. Its many features include the ability to learn your users’ application usage and so redefine application and licence needs. It prevents viruses and trojans spreading throughout an organisations IT environment and includes offline support for mobile users’ laptops using intelligent caching. Usage rights can be based on groups of users or individuals.

From the ‘at-a-glance’ central management console, a comprehensive status of application activity can be seen at anytime.

The CryptionPro Module of the CynapsPro Suite provides an encryption facility for information written to external devices. This means that no unauthorised person can read the data and any security threat from theft or loss of a memory stick or such device is much reduced. Whilst encryption is automatic, there is the option not to encrypt specific files or file types if so required.
